This comprehensive renovation transformed an outdated Isle of Palms property into a stylish, welcoming coastal retreat—designed to maximize comfort, functionality, and guest appeal just steps from the shore.

Understanding the Client & Existing Conditions

The home required significant updates to both aesthetics and layout to better serve as a guest-focused retreat. Dated finishes, inefficient spaces, and limited sleeping capacity presented challenges that called for a thoughtful, design-led approach to improve flow, durability, and overall experience for visitors.

Design Process & Planning

Our planning focused on creating a cohesive, modern aesthetic while addressing the practical demands of a coastal rental environment. Layouts were reworked to enhance openness and usability, materials were selected for durability and style, and custom solutions were developed to increase occupancy without sacrificing comfort.

The Renovation Solution

The kitchen was fully reconfigured to create a more open, functional layout and finished with beautifully stained hardwood floors. The fireplace was completely reimagined—removing the existing insert, extending the wall, and wrapping it in coastal-inspired shiplap. A new surround made from GlassEco’s composite embedded with oyster shellscreates a distinctive focal point, complemented by a 65” flat-screen TV and sound bar for an elevated guest experience.

Throughout both floors, curated artwork and updated paint selections replaced dated décor with a fresh, cohesive palette. The hall bathroom was redesigned from the ground up by removing a constricting hallway and small shower to make room for a larger tiled shower with a custom glass door, along with a new vanity, flooring, lighting, and fixtures—resulting in a spa-like retreat.

To accommodate additional guests, we designed and built a custom bed unit featuring two bunk beds over queen beds, maximizing sleeping capacity while maintaining a comfortable, inviting layout.
