Kitchen Renovation

Bancroft Avenue | Kitchen Renovation

Project Overview (Design-Led Snapshot)

This design-led renovation reimagined the kitchen and adjacent living areas into a more functional, connected space tailored to everyday routines and family life. Through thoughtful planning, the home gained better flow, improved storage, and a cohesive first-floor update that feels refreshed yet timeless.

Understanding the Client & Existing Conditions

The homeowners wanted a kitchen that felt purposeful and welcoming—one that supported daily use while also feeling polished for gathering and entertaining. The existing layout included an awkward pantry closet and a garage entry that didn’t function well as a true transition space. Several supporting spaces on the first floor—like the laundry area and powder room—were undersized and lacked the storage and usability needed for day-to-day life. Design exploration was essential to refine circulation, strengthen storage, and ensure updates across the home felt intentional rather than piecemeal.

The Design Process & Planning

We studied the kitchen layout and traffic patterns to simplify how the space works, with special attention to storage needs, daily entry routines, and sightlines into the eating area. Cabinetry design and finish selections were shaped by both lifestyle and budget, balancing durability with a clean, elevated look. By clarifying the scope early—from the kitchen to first-floor finishes and targeted room improvements—we created a plan that supported accurate pricing, clear sequencing, and a smoother construction process.

The Renovation Solution

The approved design was brought to life through a kitchen transformation centered on new cabinetry, a distinctive island, and a decorative cabinet arrangement in the eating area featuring glass-front doors. We removed the existing pantry closet to eliminate the layout bottleneck and created a new mudroom-style entry from the garage directly into the kitchen, improving function and everyday organization. Complementary upgrades to key supporting spaces—including a more efficient laundry setup and a refreshed powder room—helped the entire first floor perform better. Coordinated updates throughout the home, including new paint, first-floor flooring, and refreshed stairs and railings, completed the renovation with a cohesive, finished feel.
