Project Overview:
This design-led renovation transformed a closed, horseshoe-style kitchen into an open gathering space that supports modern family living and entertaining.
Understanding the Client & Existing Conditions:
The existing kitchen was visually and physically separated from the family room, limiting flow and connection. The clients wanted a more open layout that felt integrated while maintaining structural integrity.
Design Process & Planning:
Through early design exploration, we evaluated structural options, studied layout configurations, and coordinated material selections to ensure the renovation could be executed efficiently with clear expectations around budget and schedule.
Renovation Solution:
An 11-foot opening was created in a load-bearing wall and supported with a flush structural beam, allowing the kitchen to flow seamlessly into the family room. A new island anchors the space while expanded storage and a custom dry bar enhance functionality.
Design Details & Features:
• Spacious island with seating for four
• Custom dry bar cabinetry
• New first-floor flooring throughout
• Refinished staircase with matching treads, iron balusters, and newel post
• Custom stone fireplace integrated with the existing deck
Closing:
This project reflects our belief that great design is the foundation of a successful renovation—creating spaces that are carefully planned, beautifully executed, and tailored to how our clients live now and into the future.
